This speech was in 4 parts on the tubes, so I figured i would put it into one.

Please dont remove this , this is really great , im so glad somebody
recorded this. We lost him to soon Aug 27 1990 RIP You will forever be one
of the great ones. You sounded like such a good soul , Glad you found peace
before you were called home.
Me and Stevie did drink togethe in grade school.Tom collins tastess like
S_____ . I hope people benefit from this speech as alcohol abuse runs in
families. His first songs were little sister and mary had a little lamb. I
went to Alanon eventually and found how alcoholism effects everyone in the
family. Later fa you.
Life’s a bitch and then you die. That’s Stevie’s story. At least he had
some good times and made some legendary music along the way. It just really
hurts me to think that he went through the hell of kicking the alcohol and
drugs, then he was killed. Maybe it was fate that his life was cut short
and he no longer has to deal with his inner demons on a daily basis. I too
am an addict, 5 years clean. Thanks for posting this, brought tears to my
eyes.
As I struggle with my own sobriety, I find this talk helpful. RIP SRV. If
you can do it, I can too.
Thank you for this… This is awesome! thank you for the post!
Stevie’s story is great, Stevie’s story is So true & Is a great story for
me to listen too.
Anybody know where Stevie’s statue is in Dallas??
10:50 so true
As a recovering alchoholic with nearly 7 years sober I find this as an
inspration to keep going strong and redouble my efforts within my AA
program.
Thank you, Toasted, for combining the clips. Thank you, Stevie, for the
inspiration. I’ve been listening to this at bedtime every night.
What happened to anonymity?
SRV- AA speech
So sad
Aren’t the things that people say and speak about in AA meetings supposed
to remain within the confines of the four walls of the room? Isn’t it
supposed to remain confidential and give the person anonymity, no matter
who that person is? If so, then why is this posted on YouTube for everyone
to listen to?
this was taped at an AA Conference and people can buy the tape. This was
taped 6 months before he died … very powerful! We all just have one day
at a time, so live it by doing the next right thing!
Thank you
Isn’t Stevie.
although AA is supposed to be anonymous…. hearing this from such a
legendary and influentual person will be very helpful to many… especially
musicians who are currently struggling.

Stevie is still ” helping people” to this day…A great inspiration…God
Bless Him….Great post…
He died in 1990, so this had to have been from the late 1980″s or 1990, at
the latest. Not “early 90’s. Check your facts, before you post.
Heard at an AA meeting the day after Stevie Ray Vaughan died. ‘Why
Stevie? Why not George Thorogood?’
Hahaha this is not stevie ray guys. Watch another interview, and you’ll see
that this guy sounds nothing like srv
OK shit my bad it just started off with him sounding strange. Maybe it’s
because at the time he had been sober for a couple of years. When he was
using, he talked very strange and had a much deeper voice
Anonymity is a personal decision to keep or break it. I can say I was a
meeting but I can’t say anyone else was. Each time I have spoke at a N.A.
function or speaker meeting I do it at my own free will. I am not ashamed
of my past or the disease I have but that’s just me others may feel the
need to keep it on the down low ya dig ?
