Really one of the best AA speaker sessions ever recorded! Hear its amazing conclusion, this is a MUST listen!
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: http://www.aa.org – Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site – As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today’s world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: “In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope.”

Bob D is such an amazing speaker! Love his Big Book studies..
thanks
good speaker – however that whole AA slogan of “No justifiable resentments”
is why people view the program as messed up. Try telling families of
Holocaust victims, families of Columbine Shooting Victims, Newtown shooting
victims etc. that there are no justifiable resentments.
In this talk, I think Bob is talking about more interpersonal resentments
rather than horrific tragedies. However, I will say, forgiveness is very
powerful. The instances you mentioned are insanely horrendous, but in each
and every case, there are certain individuals who have indeed forgiven the
perpetrators and have allowed Love to win, thus allowing its powerful
healing to resonate within themselves. One of our speakers, Ed M., talks
about forgiving the murderer of his father in his tape.
I get what you are saying though, and luckily, that “slogan” appears
nowhere in the Big Book, or any AA literature. So it is merely the opinion
of the speaker. Thanks for listening and Namaste
This is in response to what John Anthony stated below. First and foremost,
our AA literature talks about that even “justifiable anger” is better left
to those more qualified than the alcoholic. That because of our vast
perception issues and our ability to form a resentment out of almost
anything, we should avoid getting angry, because for us, the business of
resentments is infinitely grave. We as alcoholics need to be able to let
things go that may cause us to drink. A forgiving spirit, if you will.
What strikes me about your post John is that you assume that AA needs to
have an answer for mass tragedies and death. AA has no opinion on outside
issues, and does not wish to engage in any controversies. We deal with
resentments 1 sponsee at a time, and for those sponsees who have dealt with
loss, the only thing we try to convey is that walking around with a deep
resentment for the alcoholic means to die. And if the original resentment
is that someone was taken from someone by violence or senseless crime,
there is no point in the surviving party drinking themselves to death also.
If they are in AA, and they are sitting across from me, and they don’t want
to drink and they don’t want to die, they may have to *be willing* to look
at the world from another angle, and see that maybe those who perpetrated
such crimes were also sick themselves.
It is from this new angle that we approach life, as we try to pull another
sick alcoholic back from the brink of destruction. Please understand that.
Thank you made me look at myself. Peace!
Perfectly said!
