MRI scans of Alcoholics Anonymous members have revealed brain activity connected to the reciting of AA prayers, and potentially illuminated how the brain responds to focused meditation with regard to addiction. Researchers at New York’s Langone Medical Center highlighted specific neurological connections and relationships that were fostered within groups that recited AA prayers, when contrasted with a test group that only read newspapers. We explore the connection between focused prayer and meditation, and creating neurological pathways to break from addiction in this Lip News, hosted by Jo Ankier with Margaret Howell.
