PORTLAND, OREGON — A gropey female airline passenger avoided jail when she was sentenced to eight months’ house arrest and three years’ probation on Monday.
Heidi McKinney, 27, from Oregon admitted touching up a 19-year-old woman on an Alaska Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Portland in May last year.
McKinney, who was drunk at the time, was returning from a trip to Sin City with her sister-in-law when she made unwanted physical advances on the victim, the Oregonian reported.
The victim testified that McKinney smuggled alcohol aboard the flight. McKinney tried to take photos of the victim and verbally abused the teen when she refused to share her illicit booze.
Things got worse when McKinney climbed on top of the victim and told her that she wanted to do the wild thing with her.
The court heard that McKinney had a long history of alcohol and substance abuse and defense lawyers argued that should be a mitigating factor in her sentencing.
The judge agreed, ruling that McKinney must undergo drug and alcohol counselling and stop drinking, period. She was also ordered to pay the victim ,000 in restitution.
Under the conditions of her sentencing, McKinney can leave home to go to school, church, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and to look for a job.
