Step 2 of the 12 Steps of AA and Al Anon:
“We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.”
In this step we realize that we can’t do it alone. We tried everything we could to control the drinking or control the alcoholic but all in vain. The only thing that helps in recovery from alcoholism is to rely on a power greater than ourselves. Your Higher Power can be God or your concept of God or the rooms of AA or Al Anon. The essential is that you get a Higher Power.
The next part is to be restored to sanity.
Alcoholism is a crazy insane disease for the alcoholic and for the family and friends of the alcoholic.
Author Michelle Fondin has created this forum for those who love an alcoholic and are in a relationship with an alcoholic. Together we will demystify the disease of alcoholism, provide support for one another and answer questions regarding alcoholism, recovery and addiction.
